Youth in Leadership

Youth in Leadership (YiL)
High school students are trained and supported to mentor younger students one-on-one during the school day. YiL mentors build social-emotional skills, confidence and leadership- while giving younger youth a positive peer role model

What It Is

Youth in Leadership places trained high school mentors with elementary and middle school students at partner schools.

Mentors meet weekly with their mentees during school hours, providing encouragement, friendship, and social-emotional skill building. Staff help coordinate schedules, check-ins, and ongoing support.

Leadership Development
High school mentors receive training in SEL, leadership, responsibility, and healthy communication.
School-based & Staff Support
Program occurs on school grounds with staff oversight, structured activities and check-ins.
Peer Support
Younger students build confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging from a near-peer mentor.
